About Us

My name is Charles Gomes, though most people know me as "Professor Charles." I'm a 3rd-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, a 20-year practitioner, and the co-owner of Gracie Barra Ashburn and Gracie Barra Leesburg. I'm also a proud United States Navy veteran and, most importantly, Petey's dad.

Petey wasn't just my dog. He was my constant companion. When life felt heavy or quiet, Petey was there, no judgment, no complaints, just unconditional love. He listened when no one else was around. He walked beside me when I needed clarity. In many ways, Petey was my clear path. Every day, Petey, his sister Penny, and I would take long walks, 30 minutes to an hour, enjoying the weather, the neighborhood, and each other. Along those walks, I noticed something small but important: many people weren't picking up after their dogs. So I did. Not because it was my responsibility, but because I didn't want my dogs or my neighbors to deal with the mess. I wanted A Clear Path forward, literally and figuratively.

That's when it clicked. Life is messy. But when you can clearly see where you're going, life becomes a little easier.  

That belief is what inspired A Clear Path.  As a Jiu-Jitsu professor, I'm already part of this community. I teach your kids. I teach your friends. I help people build confidence, discipline, and resilience on and off the mats. This business is simply an extension of that same mission: to serve, to care, and to make life a little easier for the people around me.  

When we clean a yard, it's not a chore. Every scoop feels like Petey walking right beside me again. That's how we roll. A Clear Path isn't just about dog waste removal; it's about respecting our neighbors, taking pride in our community, and helping families enjoy their homes without distractions.
